Obituary of Diane R. Dudley
Diane R. (Vigneau) Dudley, a retired Administrative Assistant and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 19, 2017. She was 61 years old.
Diane was born in Winchester and one of 9 children born to Albert and Emily Vigneau. She grew up in Burlington in a modest home that was always bustling at the seams with family and friends. She graduated with her sister Karen from Burlington High School in 1975. She married her sweet heart, James Dudley in 1979 and they settled in Woburn in 1984 to raise their family. She spent most of her career working as an administrative assistant. She had worked first for Genoa Sausage in Woburn, which was convenient to her home when her girls were young. She then went to work for Electronic Data Systems “EDS” which later became a branch of Hewlett-Packard. She worked in a small office in Malden that handled some of the company’s communication systems. She retired in 2014 and was looking forward to her retirement years.
Diane’s world revolved around her family. She was the loving and devoted wife to her husband James for 38 years. They raised their family together, cherished the time spent together, and endless wonderful memories filled with love and laughter. Diane found her real purpose in life when she became a mother. She loved the hectic schedules during the diaper years with first smiles, steps, words, child years of first days of school, friends, sports, the high school years when her girls really evolved as young adults, and to where they are now, mature responsible adults with careers, relationships, marriages, and even motherhood. She loved every bit of the journey and couldn’t be any prouder of her girls. She was so excited to be a grandmother “Mimi” and loved getting on the floor and smothering Glenn and Nova with love. Diane enjoyed the simple things around her. She loved her home, especially when it was filled with family. She loved decorating for every holiday. She loved singing around her home as she went about her work. She was a talented cook and enjoyed cooking healthy as well as many of the French Canadian meals, like Pote’ Pie, which she learned from her mother in law. She loved going her daughter’s track meets in high school and college, and the many years she sat in the stands for her daughter’s cheerleading games and competitions. She enjoyed a good walk. Camping was a very big event for her and the Vigneau family. There would be an armada of trailers descending on campgrounds from Washington DC to New Hampshire and Maine. There was nothing better than sharing a weekend in the woods or at the lake or sitting around a campfire singing, sharing stories, and having fun. With Diane’s sudden passing, her family is so thankful that she has left them countless memories filled with kindness, laughter, and love.
Diane was the loving wife of James F. Dudley. She was the loving mother of Rene’e Dudley & her fiancé Jack Letterel of Centerport, NY, Melissa Bergevin & her husband Glenn of Yorkville, IL and Emily Dudley of Quincy. She was the proud grandmother of Glenn & Nova Bergevin. She was the sister of Al “Jeff’ Vigneau of Lowell, Lorraine Salvato of Burlington, David Vigneau of Billerica, Thomas Vigneau of Wilmington, Nancy Vigneau-McAdoo of Burlington, Karen Vigneau-Callahan of Burlington, James Vigneau of Billerica and Christopher Vigneau of Brewster. She was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends whom she adored.
