Obituary of Mildred Bernert
Mildred J. Bernert, a long-time resident of Hicksville, NY, passed away on June 2, 2007. She will be remembered as a loving and thoughtful mother to her children, Elizabeth and Donald Wiltsie of York PA, Patricia and Philip Mantia of Hauppauge NY, and Thomas and Deborah Flannery of Lexington, MA. She has six grandchildren (Dean, Dale, Leanne, Gary Jessica and Jonathan – aka the “Juanster”), seven great grandchildren (Emily, Nicole, Lauran, and Ryan, Greer, Stone and Drew) and the most recent addition to the family, a great great grandchild, Maykala Rose. Mildred was born on August 7, 1919, the daughter of Paul Lilling and Sadie (Brennan). She lived most of her life on Long Island, a place that she loved dearly. She was a former employee with the Hicksville Public Library and a long-term employee for the Town of Oyster Bay. She survived her first and second husbands, Thomas Flannery and Henry Bernert. She will be missed by her dear and loving family. Her favorite poem was Rudyard Kipling’s “If.” Funeral Services will be private.
