Obituary of Ruth V. Holley

Ruth V. Holley, a woman devoted to her family and her faith, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon, July 2, 2017. She was 88 years old. Ruth was born, raised and educated in Somerville. She was one of three daughters born to the late William and Mary Holley. Ruth had a wonderful relationship with her two sisters and they remained close throughout their lives. After high school she went on to graduate from Fisher Business School. After graduation she went to work at Arthur D. Little where she worked as an Executive Assistant for over 40 years. She lived most of her life in Somerville and had moved to Burlington in recent years to be closer to her sister Audrey and her family. Ruth led a full and active life. She loved to travel and had visited such destinations as Arizona, California, Vermont, Maine and throughout Europe. She loved to go to Broadway Shows in New York. She was very passionate on her political beliefs especially when they were related to the Catholic Church and would follow her cause to the end even if it meant holding a sign or going to the State House. Ruth was blessed to be an important part of her nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews lives. She enjoyed spending holidays and special occasions such as birthdays and graduations with them. She volunteered throughout the years to many charitable organizations and supported them financially as well. She was a selfless caregiver to those in need. Ruth was a devote catholic and her faith was an extremely important part of her life. She always remembered family members that had passed away before her and made sure there were anniversary masses said for them throughout the year. Ruth was the beloved daughter of late William & Mary Holley. She was the loving sister of Dorothy Connors of Medford & her late husband Frederick and the late Audrey Christiansen & her late husband Arnold. Proud aunt of William Christiansen & his wife Julie of Weston, Ellen Mikulski & her husband Larry of Burlington, Robert Connors of CA and the late Kathleen Connors and the late Holley Christiansen Barbieri & her husband Paul of Burlington. Great Aunt of William Jr. & Kirby-Anne Christiansen, Christian & Mollie Mikulski and Paul Steven & Joseph Barbieri. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt., 128/95 Woburn side) on Monday, July 10 from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church at Noon. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers memorials in Ruth’s name may be made to St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington, MA 01803.
