Obituary of Rose Mary Archer
Rose Mary Archer, a 50 year resident of Burlington and longtime Woburn teacher passed away on Tuesday August 8, 2017 at the age of 77.
Rose was born in Tewksbury and grew up in Somerville. She was a graduate of Somerville High School, Class of 1958, where she was a member of the Golf Team. She then went to Boston State where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree and Master’s Degree in Education. She spent her first 8 years teaching in Brockton. She then taught in Somerville for 3 years, before settling in Woburn, where she worked for over 20 years. She had worked at a number of elementary schools before finding a home at the Hurld School. Rose absolutely loved children and being a teacher. She did not retire until she was 66 years old.
Rose spent 50 years living in Burlington and raising her children. She was a loving and supportive mother to her four children and a doting “Grammy” to her six grandchildren. She was always there for her family, whether it was a helping hand, advice, caring for a grandchild, or any other thing she could do to lessen their burden. In her free time, Rose enjoyed crocheting blankets and afghans. She always had an afghan waiting for each new addition to her family. Rose enriched the lives of not only her family, but all her students whom she adored and was so proud of. Her influence, kindness, and wisdom are just some of the many qualities she will be remembered for by those she has touched during her lifetime.
Rose was the beloved wife of the late Louis Archer, Jr. She was the loving mother of Chris of St. Louis MO, Juliane of Merrimack, NH, Michael & his wife Monica of Wilmington, and Amy of Wilmington. She was the sister of Elizabeth White of CA and Catherine Beers of Wilmington. Rose was the proud grandmother of Mikayla & Matthew Risitano, Julia & Ryan Archer, and Frances & Eloise Archer McCarthy.
