Obituary of Karamjit Kalsi
Karamjit Kumar Kalsi, loving husband, cherished father, and a registered nurse, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017. He was 68 years old. Karamjit was born and raised in the town of Hoshiarpur in the Province of Punjab in India. Karamjit met his wife, Kamlesh, while they were both working at Amritsar Hospital in India. They were later married on December 23, 1977. After they were married, they immigrated to the United States to start their life together. Karamjit and Kamlesh first lived in Arlington before finally making a home in Burlington, 34 years ago.
Devoted to bettering the lives of others, Karamjit went to school at Middlesex Community College and then the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, where he earned his BS in Nursing. He worked as a nurse at the E. N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford for many years. He spent the last 10 years of his career at the New England Rehabilitation Hospital in Woburn as a Registered Nurse. Karamjit took pride in providing the best possible care for his patients.
Karamjit was a family man, dedicated to his wife, three daughters, and extended family. He supported his daughters by cheering them on from the sidelines at their sporting events, attending their school functions, and encouraging them to wholeheartedly pursue their interests.
He expressed his creativity by doing various home improvement projects. Using his ingenuity, Karamjit became quite the handyman around his home; there is no room in the house that does not have his mark. Karamjit also spent countless hours tending to his vegetable and flower gardens. Fully embracing the New England tradition, Boston sports became a big part of his life and home. He always made sure to watch his favorite team, the New England Patriots, whenever they played.
Karamjit lived his life embodying hard work, strength, and perseverance. His kindness, patience, and gentle manner resonated with all of those fortunate enough to meet him. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
Karamjit was the devoted husband of 39 years of Kamlesh (Akhtar) Kalsi. He was the loving father of Erin, Erika, and Anita all of Burlington. He was the brother of Ajit Rai of India, Ashwani Kalsi and his wife Neelu and son Rijul all of India. Brother-in-law of Deep and Hazel Samuel and their children Pooja and Shshank Samuel of Woburn. Uncle of Rita Rai and Suresh Choudrey and their children Alark and Eeshan of Ohio, Achla and Ashish Katyal and their son Sidharth all of India, and Prayas and Rashi Rai and their sons Dhruv and Yajur of India.
