Obituary of Marie Theresa Lyver
Marie Theresa (Martin) Lyver passed away at the Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley in Billerica on Saturday, evening, September 30, 2017. The beloved wife of John “Jack” Lyver, she was 91 years old.
Marie was born, raised and educated in Somerville. She was the youngest of 6 children, and only daughter, born to the late John and Margaret Martin. Marie was a graduate of St. Joseph Girls High School in Somerville. After high school she worked at the MBTA. Marie met Jack at a church dance in Somerville. They both loved to dance and Jack always sought out Marie as his dance partner. They married in 1964 and would have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on October 31st. After their marriage Marie devoted her life to creating a loving home for her husband Jack.
Marie and Jack lived in Somerville when they were first married and then moved to Malden where they lived for 26 years. They moved to Senior Housing in Burlington in 2002 where they made many friendships. Marie and Jack were a true “love story”. They were totally committed to each other and took care of each other. They enjoyed vacationing in Winnisquam and Lake Winnipesaukee. They also took trips to Newfound Lake to visit family. Marie and Jack loved to dance and always enjoyed visiting and dancing at The Irish Village on Cape Cod. Marie enjoyed participating at the events at the Senior Center with Bingo being one of her favorite’s things to do. Marie was a quiet and loving woman who had a good sense of humor. She will be remembered for her love and devotion to the love of her life – Jack.
Marie was the beloved wife of John “Jack” Lyver. She was the loving sister of the late Joseph, John, James, Thomas & Francis Martin. Marie is also survived by many loving & devoted nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral from the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt., 128/95 Woburn side) on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 11 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at Noon. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-7 p.m. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
