Obituary of Nicholas A Adams
Nicholas A. Adams, a retired project manager at Honeywell Corporation and former engineer at Raytheon and GTE, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 1, 2017. He was 86 years old.
Nicholas was born in Somerville, Massachusetts the son of the late Andrew and Eoanoe “Johanna” Adams. He was a graduate of Somerville High School. He enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War and was assigned to the 3597th Field Maintenance Squadron. He held the rank Airman First Class and proudly served for 4 years during the war as a flight engineer on the B29. At the time of his discharge in 1955, he received the Korean Service Medal with 1 bronze Star, The United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. Nick married his wife Marion in 1957 and they settled in Burlington to raise their family. Nick enjoyed living in Burlington with his many friends and neighbors. He was President of Burlington Pop Warner Football when his boys played. Nick and Marion lived in both West Palm Beach, Florida and Melville, New York to be closer to his family. Although Nick moved from the Boston area, he was always a die-hard Boston Red Sox Fan routing for the next World Series Victory.
Nicholas Adams was also very active at St. Johns Albanian Orthodox Church in South Boston, MA were he spent many years serving on the church board and as President of the church. Nick was the devoted husband of 60 years to Marion (Matto) Adams. He was the loving father of Matthew Adams of Melbourne, FL, Christopher Adams of Royal Palm Beach, FL, and Johanna Foundos and her husband Phillip Foundos of Melville, NY. He was the father-in-law of Susan Adams, Deborah Adams. He was the proud grandfather of Matthew Adams, Brooke Adams, Nicholas Adams, Christian Adams, Andrew Foundos, and Nicholas Foundos.
Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home on Friday, October 6, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m. Following the service, he will be buried at in the Veterans Section of Pine Haven Cemetery in Burlington with military honors.
