Obituary of Emma M. Friedman

Emma M. Friedman, passed away at the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center on Tuesday morning, October 3, 2017. Emma was the beloved wife of the late Melvin Friedman who had just passed away in February of 2017. Emma had celebrated her 90th birthday on September 5. Emma was born and raised in the Boston area. Emma was a woman who was ahead of her time in the work place. She worked at Hyperion Industries as an Expeditor and a Purchasing Agent. She had a long and successful career at Hyperion retiring after over 33 years of service to the company. Hyperion was a very important part of Emma’s life as it was while she was working at Hyperion that she would meet her future husband Melvin. They were together for 50 years marrying in Hawaii on New Year’s Eve. Emma and Melvin loved to travel with her daughter Mary and son-in-law Lee. They travelled the world visiting such destinations as Alaska and Europe and many other exciting destinations. Emma always looked forward to her trips to California to visit Mary and her grandsons. Emma was an independent and active woman right up until the end of her life. She shoveled her driveway when it snowed, raked her yard and prided herself on her ability to do this up until her 90th year. Emma enjoyed gardening and took great pride in how her yard looked. She also liked to shop and had an “eye for fashion”! Emma will be remembered as a strong and independent woman who had a wonderful 90 years and great love for her family. Emma was the beloved wife of the late Melvin Friedman. Loving mother of Mary Dukehart & her husband Lee of Woodland Hills, CA. Proud grandmother of Terrence Gauthier & his wife Stephanie and Christopher Gauthier. Proud grandmother of Tyler, Emma, Chloe, Danielle, Halle, Stephanie & Anthony. Sister of Mary-Grace Lenihan of Melrose, Anthony Aversano of Framingham and the late Joseph & Alexander Aversano and James Servello. Funeral Services were private.
