Joseph E. Michel, a man devoted to his family and his faith, passed away at his home on Sunday morning, November 5, 2017. Joseph was the beloved husband of 64 years of the late Therese (Gaston) who passed away on December 23rd. Joseph has just celebrated his 99th birthday on September 16th. Joseph was born and raised in Sassier/Guinaudee a remote area of Jeremie Haiti. He was the son of the late Forestal and Amelie Michel. Joseph was well respected by the members of the community he lived in and was considered a Leader. Jeremie was located in a remote section of Haiti and Joseph worked closely with the Priests in the area. He was a devout Catholic and the Church was a very important part of this life. He was well known for his knowledge in Latin, and taught Latin songs to the church choir and people in the church community. Joseph and his wife Therese also worked on their farm cultivating the land. He was a great farmer. In 2010 Haiti was hit with a catastrophic earthquake and Therese and Joseph lost everything. So they moved to the United States to live with their daughter Magalie in Burlington and to be close to their daughter Mary who lived in Bedford. Joseph was the beloved husband of the late Theresa (Gaston). He was the loving father of Fred Michel of Haiti, Marie Desert of Bedford, Francois Michael of Hyde Park, Magalie Medar of Burlington, Dieuseul Antoine of Haiti, Elsie Michel of NY and Alix Merone of Haiti. Joseph is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Funeral from the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Friday, Nov. 10 at 8:45 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael’s Church, 90 Concord Rd., Bedford at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday 6-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
