Obituary of James Kakatsakis

James Kakatsakis, at the age of 84, of Burlington, passed away on April 9, 2012. Jim was the beloved husband of of Claire (Nicholas) Kakatsakis. Jim was born in Boston. He was the son of the late Harry and Alice (Andreades) Kakatsakis. Jim was a musician, playing the drums from childhood until his recent retirement. He played professionally throughout his life with big bands as well as smaller groups. He also worked in the music industry at his “day job”. Jim was most proud of his family. He was a proud member of the Romeo's (Retired Old Men Eating Out) at the Greek church. He was married to Claire for 60 years. His children and grandchildren were his greatest joy. He was a kind and gentle man, always thoughtful of other people. His hobbies included travel, reading and music. He especially enjoyed his trips to Greece. Jim was the beloved husband of Claire (Nicholas) Kakatsakis. He was the loving father of Elaine Koury & her husband Stephen of Randolph and Elise Robitaille of Dracut. Proud grandfather of Eileen Koury, Emily Robitaille and James Robitaille & his fiancé Bryanna Ricard. Brother of the late Charles Kakatsakis, Brother-in law of June Squibb of CA and uncle of Harry Kakatsakis of CA. Also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 70 Montvale Ave., Woburn, on Tuesday, April 17 at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington, (exit 34 off Route 128, Woburn side) on Monday, April 16 from 4-7 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington. Memorials in Jim’s name may be made to the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 70 Montvale Ave., Woburn, MA 01801.
