Obituary of Edward Irwin
Edward F. Irwin, a man devoted to his family, passed away at the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017. The beloved husband of Florence (Fiorentino) he was 81 years old.
Ed was born in Boston. He was one of six children born to the late Edward and Kathleen Irwin. Ed was raised and educated in East Boston. It was while working that he would meet his future wife Florence. They married and raised their three children in Waltham. They had lived in Burlington for the past three years to be closer to their family.
Ed was a quiet and hardworking man. He had a strong work ethic and worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He retired from the Maintenance Dept. of Waltham Hospital after over 20 years of service. Ed had a passion for sports. He followed all the Boston sports teams. He could hold a conversation about any sports team and provide you with the history of the team, players and player stats. When he children were young and participated in sports he was always there to cheer them on and support them. Ed and Florence had a wonderful life together. They enjoyed spending time together with their family, going out to dinner and just being there for each other. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his three children. Ed was proud of all their accomplishments and he was blessed to be a part of his five grandchildren’s lives. They brought him so much joy to his life. Ed will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
Ed was the beloved husband of Florence (Fiorentino). He was the loving father of Deborah Irwin of Burlington, Robin Irwin & her husband Anthony Silva of Billerica and Edward F. Irwin, III of Maynard. Father-in-law of Catherine Irwin of Maynard. Proud grandfather of Ivy, Justin, Adam, Aiden & Nia. Brother of James Irwin & his wife Laura of East Boston, the late Mary Brulport & her husband the late Harry of East Boston, the late William Irwin & his wife Janet of NH, the late John Irwin & his wife Ann of East Boston and the late Julia Collins & her late husband Lenny of Halifax.
Funeral from the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Friday, Dec 1 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials in Ed’s name may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241
