Obituary of James F Fisher

James “Jim” Fisher Jr, devoted husband to Jane M. Fisher passed away peacefully after an extended illness on Wednesday morning, December 6, 2017. He was 81 years old. Jim was born in Watertown and grew up in Belmont. He was one of three children born to James and Mary Fisher. He was a 1955 graduate of Belmont High School. He had the gift of being able to connect with others which made him a natural salesman. He also had an entrepreneurial spirit. During his lifetime, he started and ran the Eagle Golf Co. Inc. and JF Marketing Inc. What gave him great joy was that his son, Jim, worked at his side all those years. Jim and his wife, Jane, had made Burlington their home from 1959 to 1993. Those years were some of the best of their lives. They raised their four children, got involved in the community, and made lifelong friends. Their home in Burlington was filled with family, friends, laughter, love, and countless memories. When all the children were out of the house in 1993, it was time to downsize and they found a new home in Chelmsford. Jim was a former member of the Billerica Elks and was an avid golfer. He was a passionate boater and has been a member of the Newton Yacht Club since 1978. He loved sharing boating stories with fellow members and attending the socials and gatherings at the yacht club. Jim had the mindset of most boaters that “Bigger is always Better”! Over the years, he has had numerous boats working his way up to a 36 foot cruiser that he named after his wife “Jane Marie”. He participated in club flotillas and had many memorable summer vacations on his boat cruising to Martha’s Vineyard. Those are memories his family will never forget. Jim made his family the center of his universe. He and his wife Jane had been married for 58 years. They had a great circle of friends and have a embraced life’s passing seasons together as one. He was a strong and supportive father to his children and he was the witty and entertaining “Grampy” to all his grandchildren. Jim was proud of his Irish heritage and would have embraced the old saying “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; Love leaves a memory no one can steal.” He lived life to the fullest and his memory will certainly remain in the hearts of all those he loved and cared for. He even spent his last day charming the Medical Staff at Lowell General Hospital. Jim was the beloved husband of Jane (Lanagan) Fisher. He was the loving father of Deborah Johnson of Westford, James F. Fisher, III & his wife Mia of Grafton, Kevin Fisher of Grenada Hills, CA and Karen Sheppard & her husband Greg of Danvers. He was the proud grandfather of Nicholas Johnson & his wife May, Courtney & Patrick Johnson, Olivia, William & Kevin Fisher, Rylee Sheppard and Adrian & Amanda Olivares. He was predeceased by his loving sisters; Marilyn Brown and Joan Maurer.
