Henry Lucky'' Munroe

Obituary of Henry A Lucky'' Munroe

Henry A. ''Lucky'' Munroe, owner of Munroe Roofing, passed away suddenly on Wednesday morning, December 13, 2017. He was 68 years old. Henry was born in Boston, the son of Henry and Dorothy Munroe. He was a resident of Burlington for over 60 years. Henry loved working with his hands and found working in the construction field most rewarding. He owned Munroe Roofing for 25 years. He was not limited to just roofing, but also did siding, and interior remodel projects as well. He acted as the general contractor when he built his own home. Henry was a man who didn’t want to be the center of attention, but would give you the shirt off his back. He had great friends in James and Ester Rogers. Not only did he enjoy their company, he made sure they were well cared for during their later, more frail years. He loved tinkering on home projects, tractors, or automobiles. He was an antique car enthusiast. His intention usually was to buy a car, restore it, and then sell it for a profit. Most times after finishing the project, he had a hard time parting with the car, thus adding to his collection. Some of his favorites were a 1974 Chevrolet Nova SS, 1963 Pontiac Star Chief, and a 1955 Chevrolet Belair. He enjoyed going to car shows and talking shop with other car buffs. Henry was a regular at the Dunkin Donuts in Burlington. He would meet his friends there, share a coffee, and talk about world events. He was so proud when the Dunkin Donuts staff hung pictures of his cars parked in front of the store. And finally, when you saw Henry, his beloved dog Katie, was always at his side. Henry was the beloved husband of 32 years of Karen (Lafferty). He was the father of James and John, both of Raymond, NH, and Renee Forgitano of Sanford, ME. He was the brother of Edward Smith of Methuen, Merilyn O’Connor of Tewksbury, Alice McCarthy of Billerica, and late Dorothy Buckley. He was the special uncle to Gerry Tellier. Henry was also survived by several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Sunday Dec. 17 from 3-6 p.m. and Monday from 10-11 a.m. Graveside services will be held on Monday Dec. 18 at 11:30 a.m. at Pine Haven Cemetery, Bedford St., Burlington. Memorials in Henry’s name may be made to the Burlington Recreation Department Memorial Fund, Burlington Town Hall, Burlington, MA 01803.
