Her life took a tragic turn in 1990 when her husband passed way and left her with a one year old son to raise alone. Nancy would sacrifice everything to provide for her son John. He was her world. She purchased the Vigneau family homestead in Burlington where she would raise her son John. Nancy’s home became the focal point for all the Vigneau family gatherings. Nancy was a talented seamstress. While her son was young she made his Halloween costumes every year. She made her own wedding dress as well as her sisters. Nancy also made bridesmaids dress for her sister’s bridal party as well as prom dresses for nieces and friends. She also enjoyed knitting and made hats for breast cancer survivors. This was a project that was very dear to her heart and she was still working on the hats even during her illness. Nancy had a loving and nurturing nature. She was always caring for those in need. She lovingly cared for her husband John during his illness and because of the loving care she provided him he lived longer than anyone expected him to. She also cared for the elderly and would go the homes of her clients to do their hair when they were no longer able to drive. Nancy had an outgoing and joyful personality. She told you what was on her mind and always gave you her opinion. There was never any doubt on where you stood with her.
