Obituary of Reine L Leary

Reine L. Leary, a retired Senior Financial Aid Advisor for Special Programs at Boston University, passed away Saturday morning, January 27, 2018. She was 66 years old. Reine was born in Cambridge and was one of three children born to Donald and Irene Fournier. She grew up in Watertown and was a graduate of Watertown High School. She furthered her education at Western New England University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. She worked a number of years as the secretary to the Director of the Marist Fathers. She then went to work at Boston University. After 17 years with the university she retired holding the position of Senior Financial Aid Advisor for Special Programs at Boston University. During those years she worked extensively with international students helping them with finances during a time when many were first living independently and in a foreign country where English was not their primary language. Reine’s life revolved around her family. Being a wife of a policeman who worked nights and all sorts of crazy hours meant that she was the one in charge at home. She was always there for her children getting them to their sports, activities, and friends homes. Lake Winnipesaukee was a very special place for Reine growing up. Her family had a home in Alton, NH and she would spend her summers boating, swimming, fishing, and having fun with her family and friends. She wanted that same experience for her children, so in 1980 Reine and Jim built a home just a short distance from her parent’s home in Alton. It made her so happy to see her children enjoying the lake just as she had when she was a child. She made sure they learned to boat, swim, waterski, downhill ski, fish, and all the other fun activities associated with have a lake house. It was even more exciting to then have her grandchildren have that same opportunity. Lake Winnipesaukee was Reine’s happy place that provided her and all her family wonderful memories filled with adventure, laughter, and love. Reine was the beloved wife of 45 years of James J. “Jim” Leary. She was the loving mother of James J. Leary, Jr. & his wife Kerry of Bradford, Sean Leary & his wife Ari of Dracut, Megan Leary of Burlington. Sister of Jean Marie Cleary of Watertown and Donald B. Fournier of Alton. She was the proud Meme to Molly Leary, Timothy James “TJ” Leary and Sean Morely. Funeral from the Edward V.
