Obituary of Leland F Perry
Leland F. (Bud) Perry, Jr. 90, of Billerica, MA, died February 15, 2018. Born in New Bedford, MA, on September 25, 1927, he was the son of the late Leland Sr. and Katherine (Healy) Perry. Bud grew up in Monument Beach, and was a graduate of Burdett College, class of 1950. He was a proud World War II veteran, serving in the Army until 1947. He was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal and Army of Occupational Medal Japan. Bud was a member of the American Legion since 1980, and an avid supporter of all Boston sports. Always there to lend a joke, an ear, or a cold Bud Light, he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Leland was the devoted husband of the late Rosemary Perry (Tiernan), with whom he shared 61 years of marriage. Loving father of seven children: Cheryl Perry of Las Vegas, NV; Donna Perry of Lexington, MA; Mark Perry & his wife Kerri of Malden, MA; James Perry & his wife Robin of Castleton, NY; Joseph Perry & his wife Roxana of Canton, MA; Mary Knox & her husband Michael of Burlington, MA; and Kathleen Perry & her partner Ann Stephens of Minneola, FL. Esteemed grandfather of nine grandchildren: Laureen Alefantis & her husband John; Christine Nichols & her husband Joshua; Matthew Perry; Alyxe Perry; Bryce Perry; Olivia Perry; David Perry; Ryan Knox; and Kara Wright & her husband Christian. Proud great-grandfather of five great-grandchildren: Madelyn, Benjamin, Jack, Elizabeth, and Samantha. Beloved brother of Alice Raymond of Bainbridge, Georgia and brother-in-law of the late Lewis.
Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Monday, Feb. 19 from 5-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 10 a.m. Burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. In lieu of Flowers memorials in Bud’s name may be made to People Helping People, PO Box 343, Burlington, MA 01803.
