Obituary of Gordon Buddy'' Clark
Gordon W. ''Buddy'' Clark, a retired sales representative, passed away at Care One in Wilmington on Thursday morning, February 15, 2018. The beloved husband of 61 years of Olive (Hanlon), he was 84 years old.
Born in Tewksbury, Buddy was the son of the late Walter and Pearl Clark. He lived in Burlington until his high school years and then moved to Woburn, where he graduated from Woburn High School. Buddy and Olive both attended WHS but did not start dating until after graduation. They married in 1956 prior to his first deployment in the United States Army. He served from 1956 to 1958 and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. Buddy was called back to serve in the Army again from 1961 to 1962. After the war, he went on to have a long career in the food service industry, working as a sales rep for Durkee Foods. As a sales rep, he was responsible for a large territory and many different customers; with his outgoing and up-beat personality, it was the perfect career for him. Buddy worked hard to provide for his family and never missed a day of work. Not one to sit idle, he continued to work part-time after his retirement.
Buddy and Olive enjoyed taking trips to Venice, Florida, and had memorable trips to California to visit their daughter and to Nashville as country music fans. Buddy’s greatest enjoyment, however, was being home with his family. The Clark back yard was where many of the neighborhood children would gather. Buddy was a kid at heart and would always join the kids in playing kick-ball and other games. Buddy was blessed to have nine grandchildren that were a very important part of his life. They affectionately called him “Mr. C.” He loved spoiling the grandkids—sometimes with candy, other times with a few dollars for a good report card. Buddy will be remembered for his warm, friendly, slightly mischievous personality—as well as his devotion to his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Buddy was he beloved husband of Olive J. (Hanlon). Loving father of Diane Mentas & her husband Theodore of Nashua, NH, Cynthia Tomlinson & her husband Derek of Gilford, NH, Robin Parker & her husband Scott of Woburn, David Clark & his wife Michelle of Andover and Elizabeth Baglio & her husband Michael of Burlington. Proud grandfather of Kelsey, Christopher, Brienna, Shayna, Karina, Griffin, A. J., Brooke and Garrett. Brother of Jean Duran of Falmouth, John Clark of Mashpee and the late Shirley Johnson.
Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Monday, February 26 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
