Obituary of Isabel Nix
Isabel J. (McGowan) Nix passed away after a lengthy illness on Sunday, April 8, 2012 in Stuart, Florida. She was 83 and the wife of the late Charles W. Nix, Jr. Born in Woburn, MA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (McPherson) McGowan. Growing up in the Hond Pond section of Woburn, Mrs. Nix attended and graduated from the St. Charles High School with the class of 1947. Shortly thereafter she met Charles Nix and they were married in 1954. She loved family vacations from Beverly to Maine. Family was very important to her. She always looked forward to the family reunions helping to prepare food and organizing everyone. She lived to play Bingo, loved Irish music and shows. Her Irish roots were so strong she traveled to Ireland to follow the. She loved to crochet and everyone looked forward to receiving her afghans. She was a devoted Catholic and loved preparing for holiday gatherings. In her later years she moved to Stuart, Florida where she made many wonderful friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by her two sisters, Ruth Purington and Barbara McManus.
She is survived by her twin daughters, Julie Zampell & her husband, Michael of Stuart, Florida and Jeanne Rogers of Kingston, NH. Sister of Frances Altavesta of Woburn and Donald McGowan of Woburn formerly of Burlington. She is further survived by four grandchildren, Michael Jr. and Melissa Zampell, Matthew and Julie Rogers and two great-grandchildren, Sean and Billy and many loving nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn on Tuesday, May 1 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend.
