Obituary of Howard Thayer
Howard A. “Howie” Thayer of Burlington MA, beloved husband of Chrysanthe (Valacellis), died from lymphoma on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the age of 88. Howie was born in Pelham MA, the son of Herman and Olive Thayer. He grew up and was educated in Amherst. He served in the Army in the Korean War. Howie was owner of Thayer Fabrics and ran the business for over 40 years. He enjoyed his job and the friendships he forged throughout his lifetime.
Howie married his wife, Chrysanthe, in 1968 and they lived in Burlington all their married life. In his semi-retirement, Howie spent endless hours tending his yard and garden. He was an animal lover and pets were always a part of his family. Howie was a thoughtful and caring man. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Shirley Lauder of Amherst, his brother, Donald Thayer (Murial) also of Amherst, his sister-in-law Helen Letsou of Salt Lake City, and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his sister-in-law Alcmene Nichols.
A visiting hour will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON on Wednesday, March 28 from 10-11 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
