Obituary of Rita Demers
Rita A. Demers, a woman devoted to her family passed away on Saturday night, March 24, 2018. She was 88 years old. Rita was born in Rumford, Maine, the daughter of Alphonse and Mabel Vallee Doucette. Her family moved to Gardner, Massachusetts when Rita was a child. It was in Gardner that Rita grew up and was educated. She married Robert E. Demers and they had two boys. Robert took a position with a new company and they moved to Watertown. It was in Watertown that they raised their family. Robert passed on in 1979. So, needing to support her son and herself she returned to the working world. She took a position as a secretary at Project Impact, which was an adoption agency in Boston. Rita life revolved around her family. She had a strong bond with her sons. She and her son Brian had lunch dates almost every day which they both really enjoyed. She was so happy to see her family grow with the addition of her daughter-in-law Sejin, to her family and was thrilled to become a grandmother. She always looked forward to their visits. She also looked forward to her daily telephone calls from her son Steven, her brother Armand and his wife Yarka. Rita will be remembered as being a beautiful lady with a simple and quiet demeanor who’s life revolved her family. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Rita was the beloved wife of the late Robert E. Demers. She was the loving mother of Steven Demers & his wife Se-Jin of Hawthorne, NJ. and Brian Demers of Burlington. She was the proud grandmother of Eric and Sarah Demers. She was the sister of Armand Doucette & his wife Yarka of Chapel Hill, NC and the late Gerald Doucette. She was the sister-in-law of Jennifer Doucette of Bradford, ME.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Thursday, March 29 at 9 a.m. Followed by funeral services at Mount Hope Christian Center, 3 McGinnis Dr., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment Notre Dame Cemetery in Gardner MA.
