Obituary of Mary A. Jones
Mary Ann (Hanrahan) Jones, a resident of Burlington for 60 years, passed away at the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center on Tuesday morning, April 10, 2018. The beloved wife of Glendon Jones, she was 85 years old.
Mary was born in Somerville. She was the daughter of Canadian Immigrants the late Michael and Catherine Hanrahan. Mary was raised in the Magoun section of Somerville and a graduate of Somerville High School. After high school she worked at the Necco Candy factory in Revere. It was while working there that she would meet her future husband Glen. They married on September 7, 1958. They immediately moved into the home that Glen had purchased for them in Burlington where they would raise their four children.
Mary was a true “hockey mom” spending much of her time in hockey rinks as her three sons played hockey. She was a homebody at heart just enjoying doing things to support her children and her husband Glen. She loved to cook with desserts being her specialty. She also did crafts such as baskets and wreaths decorating them with beautiful flowers. Mary will be remembered as a woman who had great love for her family.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mary was the beloved wife of Glendon Jones. She was the loving mother of William of Attleboro, John & his wife Anne of Wilmington, David of Gilford, NH and Karen of Vernon, CT. Grandmother of William. Great grandmother of William & Matthew. Sister of the late Martin and Leo Hanrahan. Funeral from the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Saturday, April 14 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Friday 5-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
