I am so saddened by this news that I got to know only today. My years at ARCON from 2010 to 2013 had been so enjoyable because of Dr. Kamal's guidance and our wonderful colleagues. Dr. Kamal has had a legendary life that I sincerely hope that his daughter, Amita, could help to put into words and get his stories published, and I will be the first one to purchase his biography. Dr. Kamal has helped us in every way possible, and he kept active for the company till the last day. Dr. Kamal will be greatly missed.

Prof. Kamal built from scratch not only a great Engineering department, but also inspired, encouraged, and helped all his colleagues (I also being a lucky one) not to limit their efforts only towards the routine educational academics, but additionally also to focus their attention to carry out up-to-date -level research. He made it sure that it really did prove to be the greatest boon in the life and career of so many of us who earned their Ph.D. degrees mainly due to his continued proddings. His own student and one more from his Department were among the first ever to be awarded Ph.D. degrees in engineering stream from that great University.
So many of us will always nourish in our hearts a feeling of respect, gratitude, and loss about the fatherly figure - that he was. May he ever rest in Peace. Heart-felt condolences to his family.

I am sad to learn sudden demise of Dr Aditya Kumar Kamal.
May God bless his soul to be in peace! Our prayers are with the bereaved family..
The Department of Electronics and Communication at UOR (now IIT Roorkee, India) and the 15-storey tower there founded by Dr Kamal inspired, educated and helped changing lives of many including me. I was really amazed and inspired by the tower to join UOR just by seeing it back in 1976, much before my admission.
I am related to his home town, Kairana of Dr Kamal as well. Kairana has been ‘mine’ of many famous people. Unfortunately some of great personalities of Kairana passed away recently including Dr Kamal, my father-in -Law Mr Hukum Singh and Mr Akhtar Hasan (both represented the area in Indian Parliament).
Kirana gharana is one of the most prolific Indian classical music khyal gharanas too.
Dr Aditya Kumar Kamal and his contribution to the community will be remembered for generations to come.

Extremely sad to learn about his demise. He was the Head of Department of Electronics & Communication at University of Roorkee when I was a student there. Always dressed impeccably and driving around the tiny Roorkee town in his huge ‘Impala’ car he was a role model for all his students. He was much admired for his knowledge and wisdom. A great person gone too soon.

The news of Prof. Kamal's demise was passed on to me today by one friend. I happened to have a long association with him in late sixties and seventies, first as a student and then as a colleague in Department of Electronics and Communication at IIT Roorkee (erstwhile known as University of Roorkee). He established the Department from scratch and made it grow into one of the finest centre of education in Electronics and Communication in India where I was a student from 1968-1974. In 1974, he had invited me to join the department on a teaching position and for the next four years I had close association with him working on parametric amplifiers, till he left the department in 1978. Prof. Kamal had a strong zeal and commitment to make the department as one of the finest centre of education and research in electronics and communication in India. It is indeed a testimony to his dedication and love towards engineering that he continued to work till a ripe old age of 92. He will always be remembered by his students and colleagues.

It is indeed a very sad thing to learn of the passing away of Dr.Kamal. I had taught at the University of Roorkee (now IT TRoorkee) from 1958 to 1968 and was there when he joined as Head of the newly created departtment of Electronics and Communication Engineering. I remember the long discussins we used ot have about every aspect of the new department. His dynamism was truly great and his vision of what kind of department he wanted to create led to the development of the department, particularly the new building for the department which to this day stands as the landmark of IIT Roorkee. His continuus work in a life of 92 years is a tribute to the man and his devotion to work. Few people have worked as much and with as much devotion throuhout their life. I last met jim in Detroit and have always admired him. May his soul rest in peace and his family have the courage to face this ultimate calamity.

I had the good fortune of working with Dr A.K.Kamal when he returned to India to establish a new Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. It was his dedication and determination that created this Department, and we established modern undergraduate and graduate programs. We worked together for 10 years and the Department produced students that are still serving the country in many important positions. He was a great person who would be missed by his colleagues and students.
