Obituary of Robert L. Goni

Robert L. Goni, a retired Theatre Booker for Paramount Pictures, Entered into Eternal Life on Sunday morning, May 13, 2018. The beloved husband of the late Irene M. (Ferranini) who passed away in 2004, he was 80 years old. Bob was born in Somerville. He was the son of the late Michael and Emma Goni. He was raised and educated in Somerville. Bob and Irene married in 1966 and moved to Burlington shortly after their marriage. Bob worked as a Theatre Booker for Paramount Pictures in Boston for over 30 years. After taking an early retirement from Paramount, he decided to take a part time job at Petco, where he worked for over 10 years. Bob also served his country in the Army National Guard for close to six years. Bob had many interests. He was a history buff and had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge of all aspects of world history. He loved watching old movies and had quite a diverse collection. He shared his knowledge and love of history with his oldest grandson Kyle. Bob also loved the challenge of crossword puzzles. He enjoyed bowling and had belonged to many different leagues later in life. Bob was a religious and spiritual man. His faith and his church were an important part of his life. He was a longtime member of St. Margaret’s Church in Burlington and could be seen every Sunday at the 7:30 a.m. Mass. He had a wonderful marriage to his wife Irene. They enjoyed traveling together and had taken a number of Caribbean cruises with friends. His life changed forever when Irene passed away at the age of 62 following a courageous battle with cancer. After her death it was his daughter Andrea, son-in-law Dan and their four children that became the center of his life. Andrea and Bob had a close father daughter relationship. They gave respect, joy and unconditional love to each other’s lives. Bob had a special bond and relationship with his four grandchildren. He was affectionately called “Eepy” by them. He looked forward to their weekly dinners and movie night as well as dance recitals, school plays and family functions. Bob was a people person. He was a quiet and unassuming man who made friends easily. He could strike up a conversation with just about anyone he met. While he was going through his health challenges he would lend support and encouragement to his fellow patients. Bob had a well-lived life. It was filled with kindness, contentment, happiness and love. Bob was the beloved husband of the late Irene M. (Ferrarini). Loving and devoted father of Andrea Mills & her husband Daniel of North Reading. Proud grandfather of Kyle, Lindsay, Dylan & Brady. Brother of Marie Carbone & her husband Carmine of Auburn. Uncle of Michael Carbone of FL, Christina Carbone of AZ and Valerie Carbone of Auburn. Funeral from the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt., 128/95 Woburn side) on Wednesday, May 16 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday 5-8 p.m. Interment in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington. Memorials in Bob’s name may be made to the Sawtelle Family Hospice House, 320 Haverhill St., Reading, MA 01867
