Obituary of David Leo Bergman

David Leo Bergman, a retired human resources specialist, passed away on Thursday morning, May 17, 2018. He was 67 years old. David was born in Boston and grew up in Brookline. He was a graduate of Brookline High School and UMass Boston where he earned a degree in Political Science. He married his wife, Barbara in 1976 and they settled in Burlington in 1981. He worked in the human resource field for most of his career. He worked for Analogic Corporation, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority and ProSource. David was a man who enjoyed his family’s company and working around his home. He took great pride in his home and was always in the yard tending to his pool, landscaping, and lawn. He enjoyed music, especially the Beatles and Elvis Presley, watching movies, and reading. He was a history buff and the type of person you wanted on your team for trivia games. He especially enjoyed historical books about the Kennedys, who had grown up only blocks away his childhood home. He loved to swim in his pool or in the cold ocean waters of Maine. Summer vacations were often spent on the beaches of Ogunquit, Maine and winter vacations were spent on the beaches of Florida. He enjoyed an occasional trip to the casinos in Connecticut or Las Vegas to test his luck. He was a huge New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. David was the loving husband of 42 years to his wife, Barbara. They enjoyed raising their son, entertaining family and friends at their home and around their pool. They loved traveling together, sitting on the beach during warm summer days. He was a supportive and encouraging father. He was on the sidelines cheering for Michael as he played soccer and baseball. One of the happiest days in David’s life was last July when he saw his son marry the love of his life. He was so proud as a father and so happy to welcome his daughter-in-law Christina to his family. His love will remain with all those he loved and cared for. David was the beloved husband of Barbara (Nidel) Bergman. He was the loving father of Michael Bergman and his wife Christina of Reading. He was the brother of Paul Bergman and his wife Ruth of Charlestown. Relatives and friends may visit with David’s family on Tuesday, May 22 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side).
