Obituary of Francis J. Keating

Francis J. Keating passed away on June 20th surrounded by his wife and children. “Frank” was born in Medford in 1930 and graduated from the Medford Vocational High School. Living in Medford until his retirement in 1993, he and his wife Anne, spent the next twenty years traveling the country in their RV. After their travels, they split their time between Naples Fl and Burlington Ma. After serving time in the Army during the Korean War, he spent his early career at General Electric and his last 40 years at LC Anderson in Boston Ma. He was very involved in his community as a member of the Holy Name Society of St Francis Parish and several organizations devoted to the well-being of children. As treasurer of the North Medford Youth Hockey program in the 1970’s, he was instrumental in founding Medford Recreational Youth Hockey by working tirelessly behind the scenes to unite Medford’s three different hockey programs. His contribution continues to benefit young Medford players today. Frank met his wife Anne on Cape Cod in 1956 and was married for over sixty years. He is survived by his wife Anne of Burlington Ma and his children, Linda McEleney of Peabody Ma, Stephen Keating and his wife Mary of Winchester Ma, David Keating of North Andover Ma, Nancy Keating of Medford Ma, and Susan Costa and her husband Steve of Burlington Ma. In addition, he is survived by nine wonderful grandchildren, Jack, Julia and William Keating of Winchester Ma, Michael and Sarah Costa of Burlington Ma, and Alex, Zachary, Hannah and Rachel Keating of North Andover Ma and many beloved nieces and nephews, all whom will carry on his kind, fun and generous spirit. Funeral from the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Monday, June 25 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday 4-7 p.m. Burial will be private.
