Obituary of Helen Irene Krupkoski

Helen Irene (Waniak) Krupkoski, a resident of Burlington for 58 years, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday morning, June 20, 2018. She was 95 years old. Helen was born in Chelsea. She was one of three children born to Polish immigrants, Waclaw and Stella Waniak. She grew up in Chelsea and was a graduate of St. Stanislaus School. She married her late husband Louis in 1945 and they settled in Burlington in 1960. She worked part-time as a technician at MKS and Sylvania in Burlington. But if you were to ask Helen, her full-time career was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Helen led a full and active life. She was the ultimate hostess and enjoyed welcoming her family into her home for the holidays. She was a hands-on mom to her two sons, Daniel and Robert. After growing up in a home with all men, she was delighted to welcome her daughter-in-law Debbie into the family and nothing brought her more joy than the birth of her two granddaughters, Amanda and Rebecca. She never missed any of their shows or other significant events in their lives. Helen even volunteered at her granddaughters’ elementary schools, working in the holiday store and reading to children. Helen was not one to sit idle. She would crochet afghans and blankets and donate to local nursing homes and The Wish Project in Lowell. She loved to travel and would take day trips to visit museums and local historical sites with her son, Daniel. She also took trips to Florida and the Bahamas with her son Robert and his family. Helen loved to work around the yard gardening. She even shoveled her driveway and raked the leaves in her yard all the way up to her 92nd year! She loved to walk, with two of her favorite walking destinations being Horn Pond in Woburn and Walden Pond in Concord. Helen will be remembered for her zest for life and love of her family. Helen was the beloved wife of the late Louis S. Krupkoski. She was the loving mother of Daniel L. of Burlington and Robert W. & his wife Deborah A. of Chelmsford. Proud grandmother of Amanda E. Silvia & her husband Daniel K. of Lowell, and Rebecca M. Krupkoski of Medford. Sister of the late Chester and Henry Waniak. Funeral services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Saturday, June 23 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Helen’s name may be made to Cancer Research Institute, 29 Broadway, New York, NY 10006.
