Obituary of Mary James

Mary Frances (Shelc) James passed away in her sleep with her husband at her side on Sunday afternoon, August 26, 2007. Mary was born in Bellows Falls Vermont, the daughter of the Polish immigrants, late John and Frances Szelc. She grew up and was educated in Bellows Falls, VT. She was a graduate of Bellows Falls High School. She continued her education at Connecticut Institute for Hairdressing in Hartford, CT. She worked as a hairdresser for a short time, but with the onset of WW II, she answered the her nations call for woman to join the war effort by taking on jobs once only held by men. She worked for Pratt Whitney Aircraft building military aircraft engines. In September of 1948, she married Geno James and they shared 60 wonderful years together as husband and wife. Mary was an exceptional seamstress. She could make dresses, shirts, ties, or any other item that was sewn or stitched. She was also an excellent cook. She will be lovingly remembered. Mary was the beloved wife of Geno J. James. She was the sister of the late Julia Bobrowski, Walter, Joseph, Frank, Anthony, & Edward Shelc. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews. A visiting hour will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, Aug. 29 from 6 -7 p.m. and will conclude with a Prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. On Friday, Aug. 31 there will be a visitation at the Fenton Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellow Falls Vermont from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Charles Church at 11 a.m. Interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Westminster, VT.
