Obituary of Dickson Goon
Dickson Bing Goon, a component engineer, passed away after a short illness on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. He was 64 years old. Dickson was born in Boston. He was one of three children born to Bing Soon Goon and Chun Mi Goon. He grew up in Cambridge and was a graduate of Cambridge Latin High School. He then earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from Northeastern University and later earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). He was working at Schneider Electric in Andover as a component engineer. Schneider Electric is an industry leader in the Digital Transformation of Energy Management and Automation in Homes, Buildings, Data Centers, Infrastructure and Industries. He had previously worked at Avid Technology and Instrumentation Laboratories.
Dickson has made Burlington his home for the past 33 years. There were three generations living under its roof for many years. He was a sports fan, loved to travel, and was quite fascinated in all sorts of history. He was a bit of a car buff and often went to car shows to see the classics as well as modern cruising creations. He was a huge fan of technology. He always wanted the newest type of televisions, computers, toys, networking, and any other modern gadgets or gear. He would research, read all the operating instructions, and tinker with his toys to get the maximum potential from his devices and equipment. He supported his sons in their interests, activities, educations, and life decisions.
Dickson was the devoted husband to the late Tina (Woo) Goon. He was the proud father of Matthew Goon of Burlington & his girlfriend Kathleen Collett and Wayne Goon & his wife Mary of Tewksbury. Son of the late Bing Soon Goon and Chun Mi Goon. He was the brother of Alvina Cheng & her husband John of Tustin, CA and Michael Goon of Burlington. He was the uncle to Jason Cheng, Alana Cheng and her husband Marc Hsu, and Great Uncle to Madeline Hsu. Dickson was also eagerly awaiting the birth of his first grandchild due in August 2018.
Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington, MA on Tuesday, July 17 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 18 at 11 a.m. The services will conclude with a burial in Pine Haven Cemetery in Burlington.
