Obituary of Florence Flynn

Florence L. Flynn, passed away from the effects of Alzheimer’s Disease on Tuesday morning, July 17, 2018. She was 86 years old. Florence was born in Cambridge, the daughter of William and Mabel Engel. She grew up in Somerville and was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in Somerville. She was the beloved wife of the late John W. Flynn. Prior to moving to Woburn in 2001 she had resided in Burlington for 42 years. She worked for 37 years at Lord and Taylor in Burlington as a sales associate in the men’s department. Florence’s special gift was how she made everyone feel so at ease around her. She was extremely social and could strike up a conversation with almost anyone. Florence’s outgoing and high energy personality, confidence, warmth and kindness made her charming and beloved. She placed others first and made them feel liked, respected, understood and appreciated. She always had a keen eye for style and fashion and loved to shop for the latest trends. Florence and her husband Jack loved to entertain at their home in Burlington with family and friends particularly during the summer months at the pool. She had an appreciation for music and the theatre and was a season ticket holder to the North Shore Music Theatre for many years. Florence treasured her memories of traveling throughout the USA, Spain and Caribbean Islands with her husband, siblings, children and friends. She was the loving mother of John Flynn, Richard Flynn & his wife Elaine, William Flynn and Christine Burke & her husband Paul. She was the sister of Frank Engel of Winchester and the late Robert and Mary Engel. She was the proud grandmother of Melissa, Nicole, Kaila, Jaclyn, Patrick, the late Christopher and great grandmother of Jillian. She was also the special aunt to Michelle Paone. Funeral from the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Friday, July 20 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington. Memorials in Florence’s name may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452
