Obituary of Richard G. Gunn
Richard G. Gunn passed away at his home unexpectedly on Monday, July 16, 2018. He was 79 years old. Dick was born in Boston, and was raised and educated in Ipswich. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during the Vietnam era. He began active duty at Fort Dix in New Jersey on September 15, 1963 and ended his tour of duty at Fort Lewis in Washington on September 14, 1965. After the service Dick went to work at Sweeney Farms on Hale St. in Ipswich for many years. He always had an interest in cars and enjoyed going to the races. Dick was a quiet, unassuming man who enjoyed a good laugh. He was the type of person that once you were his friend you were his friend for life. In recent years Dick had lived in a community in Hamilton where he made many friendships. He was well liked, loved and respected by his neighbors.
Dick was extremely proud of his service to his country and considered it a privilege and honor to raise the American Flag every day for the members of the community where he lived.
Dick was the beloved son of the late Gordon & Jeannette (Gilbert). He was the loving brother of Marilyn Keohane & her husband Joseph of Burlington and Linda Gunn of Billerica. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Tuesday, July 24th at Noon. Burial with military honors will follow in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers memorials in Dick’s name may be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater New England Chapter, P.O. Box 845945, Boston, MA 02284-5945
