Obituary of Mary Lowe

Mary V. (Levanti) Lowe, a retired teacher from the Town of Burlington, passed away at her home on Saturday morning, July 28, 2018. The beloved wife of the late Michael J. Lowe, she was 93 years old. Mary was born, raised, and educated in Fitchburg. She was one of five children born to the late Peter and Rosanna Levanti. She had a large role in local politics as her father was the mayor of Fitchburg for 28 years. After high school she went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Boston University. Mary and Michael married in 1950 and moved to Burlington in 1956. She taught 2nd grade at Memorial School in Burlington for over 30 years. Mary loved her role as a teacher. To her, being a teacher was more of a passion than a job. Mary’s goal as a teacher was to improve the lives of others, and make a positive impact on the community she lived in. She was constantly remembered throughout the years by her students, even 30 years later, Mary was out to dinner with her family at the Emerald Rose; One of her former students saw Mary and paid for the entire family’s meal. Mary was a loving mother and grandmother. She had a very close relationship with her daughter Linda, her son-in-law Joseph and her grandchild Michael. Mary always gave of herself to others and it was with great devotion that her family could give back to her as they cared for her as her health began to decline. Mary will be remembered as a loving wife, loving mother and proud grandmother. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Michael J. Lowe. She was the loving mother of Linda Lowe & her husband Joseph of Burlington. Proud grandmother of Michael J. Lowe II & their fiancé Giovanna Paolini-Ferrini of Medford. Sister of Paula Kinnunen of Littleton, Gloria Mulcahy of Fitchburg, and the late Evelyn Stropparo & Marion Madonia. Funeral Services were private.
