Obituary of Laurence McNeil

Larry “Bo” McNeil, a lifelong resident of Burlington, passed away at the Peabody Glen Health Care Center on Tuesday evening, September 4, 2007. The beloved husband of the late Jean G. (Lepore) who passed away in 2006, he was 75 years old. Bo was born, raised and educated in Burlington. He was youngest of 12 children born to the late Arthur and Helen McNeil. He got the name “Bo” from his big sisters who liked to put ribbons in his hair. Bo served his country in the United States Army Reserve. Bo was married to his wife Jean for 54 years and they were foster parents for most of that time. Bo and Jean welcomed over 125 children into their home throughout the years. He was an employed as a machinist for over 30 years at the Fabraze Corporation, retiring in 1991. Bo and Jean enjoyed road trip vacations with their kids, grandkids, foster kids, neighbor kids, niece/nephew kids – you get it – ALL kids. In later years they enjoyed taking it easy, camping in New Hampshire. Bo always liked cars, trucks and things that moved. He also enjoyed his pets and jig saw puzzles. Bo is the beloved husband of the late Jean G. (Lepore). He is the loving father of Larry & his wife Debbie of Wakefield, David & his wife Donna of Lowell, Timothy of Oroville, CA, Christine McNeil of Woburn, Cory, Steven & Sara “Ashley” McNeil of Burlington. He is also survived by many foster children. He is the brother of Marie & her husband Lawrence White of Woburn, Barbara Slack of Woburn, and the late Margaret De Benedictis, Helen McKenna, Elizabeth Collupy, Arthur, Harriette, and Charles McNeil. He is the grandfather of Sean, Hollie, Tiffany, Michael, Timothy, Mike, Jay, Kyle, Anna, Jonathan, Danny, and the late Mike and Marc. He is the Great Grandfather of Shane. He is also survived by many nieces & nephews. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, Spetember 7 at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Interment will be private. Memorials in Bo’s name may be made to ALS-Massachusetts Chapter, 75 McNeil Way, Suite 310, Dedham, MA 02026.
