Obituary of Mary Donahue
Mary T. (Lester) Donahue, woman of strong faith, passed away at the Northwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Lowell, on Wednesday morning, May 16, 2012. The beloved wife of the late Thomas F. Donahue, she was 80 years old.
Mary was born in Boston. She was raised and educated in Jamaica Plain. Mary was the daughter of Irish Immigrants the late James and Agnes Lester. After their marriage Mary and Tom lived in Belmont for a number of years before settling in Burlington in 1967. She worked part-time as a Sales Clerk in at Building 19 ½ as well as Zayers Department Store. Mary’s primary role in life was that of wife and mother. Mary’s Catholic faith was the most important part of her life. She was a parishioner at St. Margaret’s in Burlington. Mary attended Mass daily and would walk to church from her home on Thomas St. She said the Rosary daily for anyone in need of prayers. Mary wanted her legacy to be that her children all had strong faith in God and this was a legacy that she accomplished.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late Thomas F. Donahue. She was the loving mother of Thomas Donahue of Lexington, Deborah DeVincent & her husband Vance of Dracut, Robert Donahue & his wife Brenda of Tewksbury. Mary was the sister of James Lester of Dedham, Thomas Lester of Marshfield and Carol Gallagher of Walpole. Grandmother of Thomas Jr, Sarah, Bryan & Kelly Donahue, Danielle, Julie & Albert DeVincent. Great Grandmother of Thomas III. Mother-in-law of Phyllis Donahue of Woburn.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, May 19 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials in Mary’s name may be made to St. Margaret’s, 111 Winn St., Burlington, MA 01803.
