Obituary of Charles Patrick McLaughlin

Charles Patrick McLaughlin passed away Friday, August 10, 2018 at the VA hospice in Bedford with his family by his side. Charlie was one of 7 children born to Patrick and Margaret McLaughlin. He grew up and was educated in Medford. He was a graduate of Medford High School. After completing high school, Charlie was drafted by the Army and served during the Korean War. He served for three years. Charlie was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, United Nations Service Medal, and the Presidential Unit Citation. He was proud to have served his country. Charlie then furthered his education at the Coyne Electrical School in Boston. He worked at Raytheon, ITEK, and retired from Honeywell as a Design Engineer. Charlie and his wife Jane moved to Burlington in 1964 where they raised their four children. Charlie and his family camped for many years at Lakeside Pines campground in Maine. As a member of the Knights of Columbus, Charlie and Jane attended many social functions. During the earlier years, Charlie coached his sons’ baseball teams and devoted his time to the many activities his children participated in. After their children were grown, Charlie and Jane traveled to many destinations in the U.S. and Europe and spent winters in Boca Raton. Charlie enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, the companionship of family and friends, and cherished all the blessings bestowed upon him during his lifetime. He will never be forgotten and his spirit and memory will live on in the thoughts and deeds of those he loved. Charlie was the beloved husband of Jane M. (Crimmins) for 55 years. Loving father of Patrick & his wife Patricia of Tyngsboro, Charlie & his wife Namrita of Gibsonia, PA, Mary Patrick & her husband Alex of Acton and Michael & his wife Jennifer of Townsend. Proud grandfather of Kathryn, Sonya, Garrett, Alicia & Liam McLaughlin, Sarah & Shannon Patrick and Kayleigh & Cale Bryant. Brother of Mary Clougher of Dorchester, John of Medford, Bernard of Medford, William of Billerica, Barbara McGonagle of Burlington and the late Robert. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral from the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Thursday, Aug. 16 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
