Obituary of Carolyn Looney

Carolyn A. Looney, a homemaker and resident of Burlington for 43 years passed away after a short illness at the Tufts Medical Center in Boston. She was 85 years old. She was born and raised in Waltham. She was one of 4 children born to Elias and Catherine Coyle She was a graduate of Waltham High School. She married her husband William in 1957. They eventually settled in Burlington in 1975. Prior to moving to Burlington they lived in Italy, Hawaii and California. She volunteered at the Burlington Public Library. Bill had a long career as an engineer at Raytheon and Carolyn ran their household. Their lives revolved around each other. Carolyn lived modestly except for her one passion, which was going on cruises. Over their years together, they went on over 20 cruises. She loved all the activities, elegant dinners, formal nights, and all the excitement shared among all those on board. When William passed in 2003, a part of Carolyn passed with him. Her soulmate was gone. She was blessed to have her nieces and nephews watching out for her. She was the beloved wife of the late William P. Looney. She was the loving sister of the late Gertrude Arsenault of and the late Paul Coyle and Bernard Coyle. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Friday, Aug. 17 at 8:30 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington at 9:45 a.m. Interment will be held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Bourne on Friday at 12:45 p.m. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers memorials in Carolyn’s name may be made to a charity of one’s own choice.
