Obituary of Lawrence J. McCauley
Lawrence J. McCauley a retired member of the Local 17, the Sheet Metal Workers Union, passed away after a short illness on Thursday, September 6, 2018. He was 62 years old.
Larry was one of 3 children born to Lawrence and Mary McCauley. He grew up in West Somerville. He was a graduate of Somerville High School. He was an exceptional athlete in high school. He was the Defensive End and captain of the football team. He spent most of his working career as a member of Local 17 and worked for many years at the Charles Blouin Company, The Harrington Company, and a number of other companies in the Boston and South Shore area.
Larry had an incredible work ethic and did what ever he could to be the best provider to his family. During his working career, his focus was on the bread winner for his family. He always took any overtime available so that he could give his family the niceties that he did not have when he was growing up. He made sure there were summer vacations in Hampton Beach, college educations, weddings, trips to Aruba and any other wants his family might need. He also shared his love of sports with his family. He coached his son’s baseball and Pop warner football teams. He loved watching the Patriots games with his family and friends. When he became a grandfather, he shifted gears. He didn’t needed to be the provider, but instead became the doting and silly grandfather. There was more time to have fun, spend time with his precious grandchildren, and be much more light hearted. He even moved from his beloved Somerville to Burlington just to be closer to his grandkids. Nothing made him happier than being a part of his grandchildren’s lives, because they were his pride and joy.
Larry was the beloved husband of Maureen (Felcon) McCauley of Burlington. He was the loving and supportive father of Kristine Sheehan and her husband Kevin of Burlington, Meghan Pereira and her husband, David, of Manchester, NH, and Shaun McCauley of Portland, Maine and his girlfriend Marielle Petrin. He was the proud grandfather of Jason Sheehan, Shane Sheehan, Christian Pereira, Dominic Pereira, and Eva Pereira. He was the brother of Sharon Ferguson and Gary McCauley and his wife Jai. Larry was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
At Larry’s request his funeral services were private.
