Obituary of Valentine Derderian

Valentine Derderian, a homemaker, who was also a wedding cake designer, passed away after a long illness at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington on Wednesday evening, May 16. She was 92 years old. Valentine was born in Lawrence, the daughter of Turkish immigrants, the late Vauhan and Veronica Mgrdichian. She grew up and was educated in Watertown. Valentine and her late husband settled in Burlington in 1958 to raise their 3 children. She worked in the cafeteria at the Burlington High School for many years. She also enjoyed ceramics. Valentine was a talented cake decorator and was often called upon to make wedding cakes for family, friends, and loyal customers. She loved her home, cooking in her kitchen, and being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends. Valentine was the beloved wife of the late Peter B. Derderian. She was the loving mother of Armand of Germany, Gregory & his wife Rhonda of Boston, and Rodney. She was predeceased by her siblings; Mulvina Ovaska, George and Michael Mgrdichian. She was the proud grandmother of Ann, Monica, Jeffrey, and Caia. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, May 21 at 9:45 a.m. Followed by a funeral service at St. James Armenian Apostolic Church, 465 Mount Auburn St., Watertown, MA at 11 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
