Obituary of Tony Marsala

Charles Anthony “Tony” Marsala, a 20 year Veteran and an Electronics Engineer, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center, on Tuesday, May 15, 2012. He was 73 years old. Tony was born in Westfield, NY, the son of the late John and Carrie Ann Marsala. He was raised and educated in Erie, PA. He was a veteran of the Vietnam. He served 4 years in the US Marines and then because of his interest in electronics, he transferred to the Air Force serving for 16 more years. He specialized in ground radio communications and retired holding the rank of Master Sergeant. Tony was a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston. He had a successful career as an Electrical Engineer working for over 20 years at MIT Lincoln Labs doing research for the for the military. Tony was a talented and humble man. He enjoyed tinkering with electronics and computers in his basement workshop. He could fix almost anything. Tony was a member of the Burlington Knights of Columbus and the Billerica Elks. He was an avid reader. He loved his wife and children and loved being a grandfather. Tony was the beloved husband of Sandra J. (Tracy). He was the loving father of Christopher & his wife Katrina of Billerica and Matthew of Richmond, MO. He was the proud grandfather of Matthew Marsala, II and Cristine Marsala of Burlington, Samantha, Amanda, Mikhaila and Jason Marsala of Billerica. He was the brother of David of CO and Larry of NY. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, May 19 from 2-4 p.m. Concluding with Funeral Services and Military Honors at 4:00 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private. Memorials in Tony’s name may be made to American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210.
