Obituary of James Kelleher
James F. Kelleher, a resident of Burlington for 40 years, passed away at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital on Thursday morning, on September 20, 2007. The husband of 54 years to Grace (Nazzaro) Kelleher, he was 75 years old.
Jim was born, raised and educated in Cambridge. He was the son of Irish immigrants the late Thomas & Mary Kelleher. Jim was a veteran of the Korean War serving his country in the United States Army where he achieved the rank of Corporal. He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars. Jim was employed for 29 years for the United States Postal Service working at the South Postal Annex in Boston. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW Post 529 in Somerville. Jim enjoyed reading and discussing history and politics. His family was the most important part of his life. He was devoted to his wife of 54 Years Grace, his children and their families.
Jim is the beloved husband of Grace (Nazzaro). He is the loving father of James Jr. & his fiancé Maria Garrasi of Pepperell, Linda & her husband Richard Freisinger of Revere, Laura Doherty & her friend Brian Stephens of Hanson, and Grace & her husband Randy Burke of Burlington. Brother of the late Thomas and John. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, Sept. 24 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday 3-7 p.m. Interment will be private.
