Obituary of Ernest Estrella

Ernest “Ernie” Estrella passed away at the Wilmington Health Care Center on Sunday morning, October 7, 2007. The beloved husband of Shirley (Cooper) he was 89 years old. Ernie was born in Cambridge. He was the son of the late Ernesto and Erondina Estrella. He was raised and educated in Somerville where he lived until moving to Burlington where he resided for over 40 years. Ernie was an Upholsterer by trade. He worked at Majestic Furniture in Medford through the mid-1970’s. He was also a talented craftsman and repaired furniture for friends, family, his Church’s, Mass General Hospital, and Universities such as Harvard and M.I.T. Ernie also renovated his own home in Burlington. Ernie was very involved in his church. He was a Warden and Chairman of the Property Committee at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Burlington. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Billerica. Ernie was an avid sports fan following the Red Sox, the Bruins, the Detroit Lion’s as well as the Patriots. Ernie was blessed to have a very full life that spanned 89 years. Ernie is the beloved husband of Shirley A. (Cooper). He is the loving father of Donna Lindstrom of Harwich and the late Joseph Estrella. He is the stepfather of Kevin O’Grady of Wilmington and Linda O’Grady of Stoneham. He is the brother of John Estrella of Somerville and the late Joseph Estrella. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Burlington on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Memorials in Ernie’s name may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 10 Saint Mark’s Rd., Burlington, MA 01803 or St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church 4 Forest St., Wilmington, MA 01887.
