Obituary of William Giordano

William F. Giordano, a resident of Burlington for 46 years, passed away after a long illness at the Winchester Hospital on Wednesday evening, October 10, 2007. He was 84 years old. Bill was born in Newton, the son of Italian immigrants, the late Salvatore and Mary Giordano. He was raised and educated in Newton and was a graduate of Newton High School. He then went on to further his education graduating from Northeastern University. Bill was a veteran of World War II serving his country in the United States Army Air Corp. where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. As a mechanic gunner on the B-17 bombers, he aided the pilot in the operation of the plane as well as manning the top turret guns on the aircraft. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal and the American Theatre Ribbon. Bill had a successful career as a Mechanical Engineer and was a longtime employee of Sanders Associates in Nashua, NH. He was a member of the Elks. Bill family was the most important part of his life. He was a loving husband, proud father and a devoted grandfather. His family remembered his loving care and his entertaining stories. Bill is the beloved husband of the late Dorothy T. (DiRocco). He is the devoted father of Paul of Palm Beach, FL and Rita & her husband Rowan Kosmin of North Chelmsford. He is the brother of Richard of Pelham, NH, Frederick of Dobbs Ferry, NY, and the late Peter, Francis and Eleanor Giordano. He is the devoted grandfather of Stephanie Kosmin and Joseph Giordano. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, October 13 from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy’s Church, 99 Bedford St. Burlington at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Newton Cemetery, Newton.
