Obituary of George Hofferty

George J. Hofferty passed away suddenly at the Lowell General Hospital on Friday night, October 12, 2007. He was 64 years old. George was born in Cambridge the son of Canadian immigrants, the late George S. and Mary Ellen Hofferty. He grew up and was educated in Cambridge. He was a graduate of Rindge Technical High School. He had resided in Lexington for the past 38 years. He had worked for 35 years as a printer at Arthur D. Little Company. He enjoyed his career and his coworkers. He had recently worked at Nokia in the security department. George had a number of hobbies and interests. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and the ocean. He owned an RV and enjoyed traveling and camping in it. Prince Edward Island was one of his favorite vacation destinations. He was a member of the Arlington Irish American Club. He also loved animals. George loved spending time with his family. He lived with his mother until her death. He often spent his Sundays at his brother’s home. He shared the same passion for camping with his sister. He was a very special uncle who enjoyed being a part of his nieces and nephews lives. George was the brother of John Hofferty & his wife Nancy of Burlington and Margaret & her husband John Burton of Wells, ME. He was the uncle of Janet Hoffman of Chelmsford, Debra Gordon of Littleton, Daniel of Franklin, and Cathy of Burlington. He was also survived by 8 grand nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday Oct. 16 at 11 a.m. A visiting hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Interment in Westview Cemetery, Lexington. Memorials in George’s name may be made to the Cotting School, 453 Concord Ave, Lexington, MA 02421.
