Obituary of John DeMarco

John T. DeMarco passed away after a long illness at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center on Tuesday evening, October 23, 2007. He was 79 years old. John was born and raised in Medford, the son of the late Frank and Helen DeMarco. He served in the Marines at the end of WW II as a Corporal. He was stationed in the Central Pacific and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. After the war, he worked for over 35 years as a diesel mechanic for Wakefield Ready Mix, maintaining their fleet of cement mixers and trucks. He was a very capable mechanic who was always willing to share his talent and knowledge with his friends in other repair shops. In his retirement years who would fix small engines, lawnmowers and snow blowers in his garage workshop. John enjoyed spending his summers with his family at Arlington Pond in Salem, NH. He had numerous friends and always had time for a friendly conversation. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He appreciated the time he spent with his family. He enjoyed sharing his mechanical knowledge with his grandsons. Even at the moments before his death, he was only concerned about his family’s well being. He will be sadly missed. John was the beloved husband of 55 years of late Louise G. (Erhardt). He was the loving father of Judy & her husband Al Gutierrez of Phoenix, AZ and Joann & her husband Joseph Feeley of Burlington. He was predeceased by his brother, Frank DeMarco. He was the proud “Papa” of Aimee Baranowski, Jessica Simmington, John, Eric, Joseph, Brian, Evan and Cam Feeley and great grandfather of Cote, Tyler, & Kyle Baranowski, Katelyn, Matthew, & Andrew Simmington. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt.128, Woburn side) on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
