Obituary of Marilyn Sheldon

Marilyn “Mimi” Sheldon, a mother of 8, passed away unexpectedly at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center on Saturday afternoon, November 10, 2007. She was 74 years old. Marilyn was born in Chelsea, the daughter of the late Mellen and Gladys Sharpe. She grew up and was educated in Revere. After she was married she lived in Medford before settling in Burlington 45 years ago. Marilyn’s biggest accomplishment in her life was her family. She had been married to her husband George for 56 years. She grew up with 9 brothers and sisters. She had 8 children and devoted her life to making a home for them. She enjoyed the family camping trips to Kezar Lake in Maine and the many days spent around the pool as a family. She was blessed to have 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She also enjoyed baking and she loved the outdoors. She will be fondly remembered by her family and friends. Marilyn was the beloved wife of George H. Sheldon of Burlington. She was the loving mother of George Sheldon & his wife Kathy of Nashua, NH, April & her husband Ralph Bartlett of Billerica, Laura Sheldon of Anchorage AK, Kenneth Sheldon & his wife Myong, Andrew Sheldon, Gladys McDonald all of Burlington, the late John and James. Sister of June Sheldon of Lynnfield, Barbara Pineau of Revere, Dorothy Malcolm of Peabody, Evelyn Gillespie of Georgetown, the late Eleanor Stone, James, John, Judy, and Clifford Sharpe. She was also survived by 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marilyn’s name may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 220 North Main St., Suite 104, Natick, MA 01760.
