Obituary of Jody Joyce

Jody L. (MacKenzie) Joyce, passed away at the Brigham & Woman’s Hospital in Boston, following a courageous battle with cancer. The beloved wife of Michael Joyce she was 52 years old. Jody was born in Malden. She was raised and educated in Burlington and was a graduate of Burlington High School Class of 1977. Jody had a passion for horses owning her first one at the age of 12. It was through her love of horses that she met her husband and soul mate Michael. At the age of 18 she sold her husband Michael a horse. Jody trained horses and also competed in Equestrian Competitions. She was Michael’s “Favorite Fishing Buddy” and together they would go boating and salt water fishing on their boat the &quote;Bada Bing&quote;. Jody was proud to be a 12th Generation of the Fairbanks Family which owned The Fairbanks House in Dedham which is believed to be the old surviving timber frame house in North America. Jody worked for 35 years at Sears at the Burlington Mall where she held positions of Sales Associate and Warehouse Associate. Jody also enjoyed photography and loved to take pictures of the ocean. Jody was blessed to have a wonderful 35 years together with her husband Michael whom she shared so many of the same interests and so many wonderful times together. Jody was the beloved wife of Michael Joyce. She was the loving daughter of Former Senator Ronald C. MacKenzie & his fiance Anne Murray of Burlington & the late Janet Lee (Proctor)MacKenzie. She was the sister of Scott D. MacKenzie of Burlington. Jody was the sister-in-law of Kimberly Joyce and Dina Babineau & her husband David all of Billerica. All survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday, May 29 at 9 a.m. Followed by Funeral Services at the United Church of Christ Congregational, 6 Lexington St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Monday 3-7 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
