Obituary of Arthur Caterino

Arthur W. Caterino, a decorated veteran of World War II and a Purple Heart Recipient, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center on Wednesday, December 5, 2007. A resident of Burlington for over 30 years, he was 89 years old. Arthur was born and raised in Arlington. He was the son of Italian Immigrants, the late Arthur J. and Antoinette Caterino. Arthur was a veteran of World War II serving his country in the United States Army. His infantry unit fought in the Rhineland, Central Europe, and Ardennes. In February of 1945 he was wounded in Luxembourg. He was captured by the Germans and spent time as a Prisoner of War. He was also the recipient of the Purple Heart, the European African and Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, and the War II Victory Medal Arthur was the owner of A. W. Caterino Construction Company for over 20 years. He plowed in the winter months for both the town of Burlington and Billerica. He also worked as a truck driver and was a member of the Teamsters Local 25. Arthur loved his home and family. He enjoyed cooking and working in his garden. He was also an avid fisherman. He was a member of the Billerica Elks. Arthur was the husband of Mary J. (MacDonald) of Burlington and the late Catherine (Ballerini). He was the father of Arthur W. Caterino, Jr. of Burlington, Roger Caterino of Billerica, Noreen Ford of Palmer, Kevin Caterino of Townsend, Linda Merritt of Billerica, William Moran of Lowell, Robin McLaughlin of Billerica, Eugene and Eric Moran both of Burlington. Brother of Norman Caterino of NH. He was predeceased by 8 brothers & sisters. He was survived by 32 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURILNGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, Dec. 10 at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday 1-4 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, BURLINGTON.
