Obituary of Richard Connolly

Richard F. Connolly, Business Office Manager for Lowell Tech and University of Lowell and a resident of Burlington for 49 years, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center on Saturday morning, December 15, 2007. The husband of 57 years of Anne T. (Saunders), he was 81 years old. Richard was born, raised and educated in Somerville. He was the son of the late John P. and Agnes Connolly. Richard was a veteran of the United States Navy serving his country in both World War II and Korea. He was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, American Area Medal, Amphibious Force Insignia, European African Middle Eastern Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Medal. Richard was a graduate of Bentley College. He went on to have a successful career as a Certified Public Accountant. He was a Business Office Manager at Lowell Tech/University of Lowell. He also taught accounting at the University. He also had a small accounting business where he specialized in taxes for small businesses and individuals. He was an involved parishioner at St. Malachy’s in Burlington. He was an usher and he was also a teacher in the Religious Education Program. Richard was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Burlington where he held the positions of Past Grand Knight and Past Faithful Navigator. He was a member and past president of the Massachusetts Association of Public Accountants. Richard is the beloved husband of Anne T. (Saunders). He was the loving father Loving father of Susan Connolly-Ambroze of Saugus, Patricia Leary of Amherst, NH, Kathleen Murphy of Townsend, and Teresa Tosney of Rancho Palace Verdes, CA.He was predeceased by 2 brothers; Edward & Robert Connolly. He was the proud grandfather of Kerri Coger, Michael Murphy, Meredith Santerre, Shawn Frotten, Erin Murphy, Caitlin Leary, Brendan Leary, Rachel Tosney, and the late Michael Patrick DiScipio and Joseph Tosney. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy’s Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington. Memorials in Richard’s name may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
