Obituary of Richard Curley
Richard “Dick” Curley, a retired Postal Clerk, passed away after a brief illness at the North Shore Medical Center in Salem on Sunday afternoon, February 10, 2008. He was 68 years old.
Dick was born in Dorchester. He one of 12 children born to the late William and Mary Curley. He grew up and was educated in East Boston. He had worked for the United States Post Office in North Reading for 45 years. Dick has resided in Burlington for 44 years. He was a Third and Fourth Degree member of the Burlington Knights of Columbus. He had also served as an officer. He and his wife Joann were very active parishioners in Saint Margaret’s Church. They were members of the Marriage Encounter Program and Prayer Group at the Church. He loved sports and shared his passion as a coach for Pop Warner Football in Burlington. He was a true Bruins, Patriots and Red Sox Fan. He also enjoyed horse Racing. Dick was a devoted family person. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Dick is the beloved husband of Joann (Alicandro). He is the loving father of John R. & his wife Diane of Land O Lakes, FL and the late Scott A. He is the grandfather of Nicholas Curley of Land O Lakes, FL & the late Sarah Curley. He is the brother of William of SD, Isabel Marcom, Robert, John, & Paul all of Revere, Mark of Malden, the late Marylou Gunther, Dorothy Farrell, Marguerite McGrail, Lillian, and Michael Curley. He is the son of the late William and Mary Curley. Son-in-law of the late John and Theresa Alicandro. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of the Resurrection in St. Margaret’s Church at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Interment will be private. Memorials in Dick’s name may be made to the St. Margaret’s Church Building Fund, 111 Winn St., Burlington, MA 01803.
