Obituary of Phyllis Ganley

Phyllis J. (Martin) Ganley, a resident of Burlington for 63 years, passed away at Kindred Hospital in Peabody on Wednesday morning, February 13, 2008. The wife of the late George H. Ganley, she was 81 years old. Phyllis was born in Lynn. She was the daughter of the late Donald and Lolita Martin. She was raised and educated in Woburn. Phyllis and her husband moved to Burlington in 1945 where they raised their three children. She worked at Jordan Marsh at the Burlington Mall. She enjoyed attending many of the events offered in the town including the Concerts on the Common and theater events held at the Park Play House, which was located in her neighborhood. Phyllis loved the ocean and enjoyed visiting Rockport. She was very fond of her daily companions who she enjoyed going out for daily walks with. Phyllis devoted her life to creating a loving home for her husband and children. She was blessed to have 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren that she enjoyed spending many special times with. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Phyllis is the beloved wife of the late George H. Ganley. She is the loving mother of Ronald G. Ganley & his wife Louise of Hooksett, NH, Sandra & her husband Paul Blanchet of NH, and Gary A. Ganley & his wife Doreen of Billerica. She is the sister of Bonnie Winson of Woburn, Barbara Ridley of Woburn, Beverly Harkins of Richmond, MO, and the late Donald Martin, Jr. and Norma MacAluso. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, February 16 at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers memorials in Phyllis’s name may be made to Minute Man Services, 24 3rd Ave., Burlington, MA 01803 or Winchester Homecare, 7 McKay Ave., 2nd Floor, Winchester, MA 01890-1600.
