Obituary of Marylee Everett
Everett, Marylee C. – age 65 of Burlington, Massachusetts died at her home on February 4, 2008. Marylee was the loving and loved wife of Allen Everett for 42 years. Marylee attended public schools in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania and pursued her bachelors degree in Biology at Tufts University, where she met her husband Allen. Marylee received her masters degree at Harvard University, and her doctoral degree in Plant Physiology at the University of California at Berkeley. She was an Assistant Professor of Biology at Simmons College and Merrimack College. Her continued career mirrored her passion for the environment in her role on the Burlington Town Conservation Commission and as the town Conservation Administrator for Topsfield, MA. For the past fifteen years, Marylee volunteered at the New England Wildflower Society where she acted as a plant conservation volunteer and rare plant monitor. She was an avid investigator for the discovery of rare plants, and the resident expert on grasses and plant germination studies for the Wildflower Society. Her passion for the outdoors, for all things wild and natural, was reflected in her annual trips with her husband to Colorado in search of the beauty in plants, animals, and birds, and their other excursions to Australia, Alaska, Africa and Central America. Marylee is survived by her husband Allen of Burlington, and her sister, Carol Lyons and her spouse Ardith Wieworka, of Boston. A memorial service will be held at Goddard Chapel at Tufts University on March 29, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. Donations may be made in Marylee’s memory to the New England Wildflower Society, 180 Hemenway Road, Framingham, MA 01701.
